😬 Mining Disaster in Turkey

SSR Mining (Nasdaq, TSX: SSRM; ASX: SSR) experienced a sharp decline in share price after announcing the suspension of operations at its Çöpler gold mine in Turkey.

This decision came following a significant slip on the heap leach pad at Çöpler. The mine, a key asset for SSR, holds 3.2 million oz. of gold reserves and has operated since 2010. The recent incident isn't the first interruption for Çöpler; previously, operations were halted due to environmental concerns.

SSR Mining's shares dropped by over 55%, reaching $4.36 in New York trading, marking a 52-week low, with a market cap of around of $909.2 million. Nine miners are still missing as rescue efforts are underway.

This is going to hurt the whole industry, isn’t it?

😉 Vizsla Not Done Yet

Vizsla Silver Corp. (TSXV: VZLA) (NYSE: VZLA) (Frankfurt: 0G3) just reported results from seven new drillholes targeting the La Luisa Vein located ~700 metres west of the Napoleon Area resource, at its 100%-owned flagship Panuco silver-gold project in Mexico.

Highlights:

  • 1.30m of 498 g/t silver equivalent (42 g/t silver, 6.76 g/t gold, 0.02% lead and 0.05% zinc)

  • 4.60m of 264 g/t silver equivalent (73 g/t silver, 2.64 g/t gold, 0.15% lead and 0.38% zinc)

Another junior hitting more high-grade gold than silver. We’re not against it at all.
