🤝 M&A in The Americas

Mako Mining Corp. (TSXV: MKO) (OTCQX: MAKOF) and Goldsource Mines Inc. (TSXV: GXS) (OTCQX: GXSFF) announced today that they have entered into an arrangement agreement, pursuant to which Mako will acquire all of the issued and outstanding common shares of Goldsource, in exchange for common shares of Mako.

  • Goldsource shareholders will get 52% premium based on 20-day VWAP, and 40% premium based on share price at the time of news coming out.

  • The deal is a great way for Mako to diversify from its Nicaraguan operations.

  • The combined company will be one step closer to producing  100,000 ounces per year of gold.

Mako’s shares are down a 5% on the news, while Goldsource holders woke up to a nice 19% uptick to start closing the gap in valuation of the transaction.

😍 Massive Gold Expansion

Northern Star Resources (ASX: NST), owner of Western Australia's largest open-pit gold mine, the Super Pit, seeks approval for an expansion extending its operation until 2034.

This project aims to widen and deepen the existing pit and enhance the Fimiston II tailings storage, along with establishing a new Fimiston III TSF. The expansion would increase the development area from 5,914 hectares to 7,795 hectares, impacting 1,868 hectares of land, including 1,580 hectares of native vegetation.

This move reflects Northern Star's commitment to extend mining at the Super Pit, part of its Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines operations, following a $1.5 billion investment to double processing capacity by 2029 amidst a vibrant Australian gold sector marked by significant acquisitions like Evolution Mining's (ASX: EVN) stake in Northparkes and Newmont's (NYSE: NEM) purchase of Newcrest.
