🧐 Gold Takes a Breather

Gold prices fell over 1% to a near one-month low at $3,283.56/oz today, heading for a weekly drop of more than 2%, as easing geopolitical tensions and improved U.S.-China trade relations reduced safe-haven demand.

The Iran-Israel ceasefire and a new U.S.-China rare earths deal have shifted market focus back to trade and inflation, with investors awaiting key U.S. PCE data. Analysts note the decline may be a natural correction after gold’s recent strong rally.

Other metals also fell, with silver down 1.4%, platinum dropping 3.8% after hitting a 10-year-high, and palladium slipping 0.2%.

👏 Energy Future Unlocked

The World Bank Group and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have signed a landmark agreement to collaborate on the safe, secure, and responsible use of nuclear energy in developing countries, marking the World Bank’s first formal reengagement with nuclear power in decades.

The partnership supports a broader electrification strategy prioritising affordability, accessibility, and reliability while managing emissions. With electricity demand set to more than double by 2035, the deal aims to help nations meet energy needs through nuclear power’s reliable baseload supply, supporting sectors like healthcare, manufacturing, and infrastructure.

Key areas of cooperation include expanding nuclear knowledge, extending the life of existing reactors, and advancing small modular reactors (SMRs), with a focus on enabling sustainable development and attracting private investment.
