🧐 China Cools Gold
Gold prices fell over 1% today, with spot gold dropping to $3,302.81 per ounce and U.S. futures to $3,312.80, as investor demand for safe-haven assets waned amid signs of easing U.S.-China trade tensions.
China's consideration of exempting certain U.S. imports from its 125% tariffs signalled potential de-escalation in the trade dispute, reducing gold's appeal. Additionally, a 0.3% rise in the U.S. dollar index made gold more expensive for international buyers, further dampening demand.
Despite this dip, gold has surged nearly $700 year-to-date, reaching an all-time high of $3,500.05 earlier in the week. Other precious metals, including silver, platinum, and palladium, also experienced losses.
Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve remains cautious, with officials emphasizing a patient approach to monetary policy amid ongoing trade uncertainties, suggesting no immediate changes to interest rates.
Analysts believe long-term support for gold persists, particularly through reserve diversification among emerging markets converging with advanced economies.
We think so, too.
👏 Adumbi Gold
Loncor Gold Inc. (TSX: LN; OTCQX: LONCF) announced results from its deep drilling program at the Adumbi deposit, located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Highlights:
22.31 metres of 3.05 g/t gold, including 4.64 metres of 5.83 g/t gold.
14.50 metres of 4.24 g/t gold, including 10.17 metres of 5.23 g/t gold.
15.57 metres of 3.35 g/t gold.
These results highlight the strong underground potential at Adumbi, with gold mineralisation extending to 805 metres below the surface.
The team noted multiple gold zones over 145.73 metres, indicating significant resource potential beneath 3.66 million ounces in the open pit. Increasing BIF thickness further enhances the deposit's prospectivity.
Who is going to buy them out?
